Introduction to our treatment programs

We believe Chemical Dependency is a disease with biological, psychological, and social components; therefore, each of these areas must be addressed in treatment. Our treatment model is one of total abstinence. We rely on the Twelve-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) as community based support both in treatment and in the continuing care phase. Each patient's evaluation begins with a variety of mental health tests designed to gather necessary information to form an accurate  diagnosis and treatment plan. Behavioral modification and other psychotherapeutic techniques are incorporated into the treatment process. Innovative techniques such as neurobiofeedback, psychodrama, and medications administered by Dr. Myers' clinic are used as adjunct therapies by referral. HealthCare Connection also specializes in treating those with a dual diagnosis, such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

A client who has completed Level A (partial hospitalization) and progressed to Levels B and C will have completed significant step work and will have made progress in both individual and group psychotherapy. A variety of scheduled lectures, process groups, assignment groups, and workshops are required in the areas of: self-awareness, personal and family relationships, spirituality, barriers to recovery, relapse prevention and professional re-entry issues. The biological aspect of Chemical Dependency is addressed via education as to the physiological components of the disease, i.e. cravings, withdrawal, effects on body systems, and physical recovery.

We encourage developing new patterns of healthy living in treatment including balanced diet, exercise, and fitness efforts through positive experiences in recreation and use of leisure time. Vocational rehabilitation is available to individuals needing such services. Our aftercare program encourages alumni to stay connected to the treatment community and take part in weekly support groups designed to help clients build a solid foundation in their first years of recovery.

HCC's Family Program helps the patient's families and significant others understand their roles in the client's path of recovery through the use of therapy groups and special events such as Intensive Family Weekend and Family Retreat.
